It felt disrespectful. She will not see us again.

It’s not merely about accommodation anymore. And it’s not applicable only to luxury offers, same goes for affordable to cheap options.
Guests want you to have them in mind and create MEANINGFUL ENVIRONMENT/OFFER, whether it’s a luxury villa or capsule hotel.
ON MY LAST TRIP, I booked one Airbnb in Italian village. It was a vast space with kitchen since my friend loves to prepare his own food.
But the disappointment was that there were NO kitchen basics like salt, pepper and oil (and the closest market is not so close).
It’s fine (it’s not), we pivot and reorganize the next day (as we are not pain in the ***), but what a pity that was!
Knowing someone planned on hosting you, they call you your guest, yet they don’t put themselves in your shoes while staying in their place. IT FEELS DISRESPECTFUL.
We are great example of her potential ideal guests, but no, SHE WILL NOT SEE US AGAIN.
Guests come back because their stay with you was nice & easy, as I like to say. Appealing and convenient product/service, YOU NEED BOTH in hospitality business.
You want guests to feel comfortable, pleased and at ease, well taken care of.
That means meaningful environment and convenience in the space they are staying, which depends on the context like location, offered amenities, your needs, possible reasons for coming into area, etc.
If someone’s main activity is hiking, their needs are quite different from someone coming for business.
Everyone loves when you think about them, so think about your guests and offer what they need and want rather then what you think is enough or plenty.
