Would you mind someone LICKING Hollandaise sauce over your Eggs Benedict to fix how it looks on a plate? Or DIPPING their finger in your cup of tea to take out a small FLY?

Those people have good intentions, but very, very bad manners.

“What you dislike to be done to you, don’t do to others.” This is NOT a good guidance in hospitality because what one finds acceptable, other person doesn't.

It’s not on employees to make such assessment. Maybe sometimes. Certainly, it helps when someone has good judgment. But it's enough to only add people from different cultures and it gets impossible.

So, it’s owners who need to have systems to support them in having high controller over the WHOLE guest experience. Owners should decide what's appropriate and what's not. And they should include those in the training WITHOUT thinking it GOES without saying!!!

Do you find employees guilty when things like these happen?
