In the early development of a hotel, owners are lead to define concept, mission, values etc. The problem is, they never come to the phase to really implement those.
Moreover, nowadays these are being used in advertising when in fact they are not implemented in reality.
Dead letter on a paper became catchy, buzz word for marketing and sales. We see this happening intensively with sustainability for example.
Sure, your values start as a list of words, but they should transform and develop in everything you offer, represent and do.
The practical implementation of values is transferring them to hotel interior and exterior design, shapes and colors, textures and sounds, cuisine and communication style, uniform design, grooming standards, steps of service, offer packages, interactions, welcome gift, ways to over deliver, etc.
They are like threads that travel along every process, operations and amenities in order to say your story louder and clearer and integrate everyone involved in it.
These things are the secret behind successful hotel stories because they connect everything into one beautiful wholeness. They enable honest relations and make a safe environment for emotions, ambitions and memories.
Of course your guests will not tell you this, but they will always feel if this foundation is lacking or it’s strong and inviting.
