Marketing is NOT the solution. Can it bring you more guests and increase occupancy? Yes, BUT at what costs? And I mean long term costs.
You don’t want to be after any guests, because you don’t want to be any hotel serving all kinds of people.
Highest occupancy does not mean highest profits.
Ironically, this applies whether you are really passionate about your hospitality business OR in it just for money and recognition.
In any case, you want to be building your BRAND EQUITY. That is your brand identity and character which influences your offer and service.
By focusing on how you can serve your actual guests better, who they are in deed, what your values are and how they interact with guests’, you will INCREASE BRAND QUALITY and your guests will return you with being LOYAL and READY TO PAY THE PRICE.
The result is BRAND AWARENESS and RECOGNITION.
Eventually, the only job is to keep it going at the same level. And on this road, marketing can be of a great help but not before you’ve built STRONG VALUE PREPOSITION.
Otherwise, it’s just a trap that BLINDS you.
